8 Best Baby Rockers in 2018

Babies often have a hard time falling asleep and would require the help of their parents to carry and sway them to sleep. This reminds the baby of its time in its mother’s womb which helps it relax and eventually, fall asleep.

However, parents would feel drained from hours of swaying. This is where baby rockers come in handy. A baby rocker is a must-have for parents since its beneficial for both the baby and parents themselves. A baby rocker helps the baby by imitating the parent’s sways, on the other hand, it helps parents by letting them take a break and rest.

To help you look for the best baby rocker for your baby, I have reviewed several baby rockers under 200 dollars.

4moms rockaRoo Baby Swing

Unlike the Dark Safari variant, the Infant-to-Toddler Rocker in pink by Fisher Price sports a machine-washable seat pad. It also doesn’t have music and has a bulkier build.

However, like the Dark Safari, the pink variant also has soothing vibration which doesn’t need batteries, a removable toy bar and rattle, and can be converted to a stationary chair.

Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play Sleeper

Quick Summary

Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play Sleeper

Rated by: Lori

It seems like Fisher Price is on the roll, as our next best baby rocker comes from the same brand.

As the base variant of the Fisher-Price, the  Auto Rock 'n Play Sleeper doesn’t sport the automatic rocking, unlike others.

This product, even without the automatic rocking, rocks with a gentle push and still does its purpose well.

Despite this fact, the Rock’n Play Sleeper would definitely be enjoyed by your baby.

The Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play Sleeper also has the calming vibrations, safety belt, and the compact fold features the automatic one has.

PROS

  • Compact fold and easy to transport
  • Safety belt
  • Easy to rock

CONS

  • Just for babies (20 lbs. capacity)
  • Battery operated
  • Tricky to assemble

Factors To Consider In Buying A Baby Rocker

Now that we have covered the key features, and pros and cons of each baby rocker, choosing the best baby rocker is your next concern. Out of the eight baby rockers, which one should be your best bet?

Built

The “Built Award” is given to the best baby rocker in terms of the material used, design, weight capacity, and stability.

Both the Tiny Love 3 In 1 Rocker Napper, and the Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing are special mentions on this category.

However, I have to give the best built award to Fisher-Price Infant-to-Toddler Rocker (both dark safari and pink variant).

Baby Rocker Built

The Fisher-Price Infant-to-Toddler Rocker is well built for the function it has to play, both being a baby rocker and a seat. The rocker also has the highest weight capacity of all the rockers we’ve covered, hence, it can be used the longest. Also, the combination of the hard plastic and metal frame gives the rocker the stability it needs for its key features.

Portability

In terms of portability, the rocker’s size, and weight matter. The Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing receives a special mention on this award, however, most portable rockers on this list are both the Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play Sleeper, and Fisher-Price Auto Rock 'n Play Sleeper.

Baby Rocker Portability

The only difference between both winners is that the Auto has an auto rocking function. Tthe design, however, is identical. The rockers when used also has a small footprint and would fit in small rooms, has an easy-fold button which folds the rocker making it even smaller when not in use. With these, transportation and portability of these rockers are considered the best on this list.

Power operation

In this criterion, we’ll be looking at the rocker’s power operating option. The plug-in option is better compared to battery operation, as it can saves more money and is safer in the long run. The Fisher-Price Auto Rock 'n Play Sleeper is the runner-up on this award, however, the winner is no other than the Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing.

Baby Rocker Power Operation

Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing has both the plug-in option and the battery option making it both a power-saver, and a money-saver. With the battery operation option, it can also be used at times off power outage or even outdoors. Compared to the Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing, all other reviewed rockers seem to be old and outdated in terms of power operation.

Movement

The rocker’s movement is judged in terms of the rocking, swaying, or bouncing it produces during use. The speed and frequency of the motion are the key to this factor. Both 4moms rockaRoo Baby Swing and the Fisher-Price Auto Rock 'n Play Sleeper are special mentions on this award, but the Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing is our choice.

Baby Rocker Movement

The Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing has six swing speed options to choose from. The swing speed would make your baby experience a new kind of fun at different speeds, and you would feel peaceful since you can choose the most fun swing speed, at the same time, the safest. With this, it is understandable why Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing is best in movement.

Entertainment features

In this factor, the rocker with the best entertainment feature gives your baby the enjoyment it deserves, while simultaneously giving parents access to him. With 10 songs and 5 nature sounds the Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing is special mentioned, however, the award is given to Fisher-Price Infant-to-Toddler Rocker (Dark Safari).

Baby Rocker Entertainment Features

Fisher-Price Infant-to-Toddler Rocker in Dark Safari features a toy bar that includes bat-at toys and a musical elephant that stimulates the baby’s senses. The toy bar encourages the baby to bat, reach, and play with the toys-- working out his muscles and would develop his important motor skills. The toy bar can be easily removed, making access to the baby easier.

Safety features

I see that all of the reviewed rockers are safe, as long as you follow all the recommended guidelines set by the manufacturer. However, some of the rockers seem off when used and can cause paranoia to the parents who would use them for the first time. Because of this, I would not be considering baby rockers with automatic function since the machine might break or worse-- electrocute the baby.

Baby Rocker Safety Features

With this fact, I consider the Fisher-Price Infant-to-Toddler Rocker to be the winner and deemed the safest of all the rockers n this list. It has a powerless operation and is the sturdiest of all the featured rockers. It also has an adjustable safety belt for your peace of mind. The rocker is only powered by a single D-size battery for its gimmicks and entertainment feature making it safer and less chances of electrocution.

Cost efficiency

For this, let’s discuss all of the rockers on this list to see how well the features and functions justify the price they are being sold.

Bright Starts Playful Pinwheels Bouncer

Let’s start with the cheapest. The Bright Starts Playful Pinwheels Bouncer is sold just over 20 dollars. The rocker features a removable toy bar and vibrations, which is not bad. However, the capacity and build quality of the product is poor since it only has a thin metal frame as support and can only carry babies up to 25 pounds, making it not recommendable for older and bigger babies.

Fisher-Price Infant-to-Toddler Rocker, Dark Safari

Next, at just over 25 dollars, the Fisher-Price Infant-to-Toddler Rocker, Dark Safari. has vibrations and a removable toy bar. However, this is a lot better in terms of  performance since you can have a peace of mind because of the sturdy structure and support.

Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play Sleeper

The Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play Sleeper might be the most portable and the most compact of all the other reviewed rockers, but you can say that it’s structure is strong enough for the recommended 20 lbs. limit. It only features vibration function and costs more than 40 dollars, however, the foldability and the small footprint of the product makes it somewhat worth it of its price tag.

Fisher-Price Infant-to-Toddler Rocker, Pink

Compared to the Dark Safari variant, the Pink variant is made of more plastic and has less metal for its frame. The pink version also lacks the musical elephant the dark safari has and has a rattle in exchange. However, with these changes and somewhat similar functions, such as removable and machine-washable seats, we can say it’s inferior to the other variant and costs more-- at around 45 dollars.

Fisher-Price Auto Rock 'n Play Sleeper

The automatic version of the Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play Sleeper is the best seller of all the rockers we have featured. The price tag of less than 70 dollars is very justifiable for its function and features. However, the product has lots of bad reviews because of busted motors after just weeks of usage making the product risky because the company lacks sales service and would cause a lot of hassle just to return a defective product.

Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing

At almost 80 dollars, the Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing has all the features you need for the rocker you need. The versatile power option is also a plus for the rocker. The only aspect it lacks is the portability.

Tiny Love 3 In 1 Rocker Napper

The Tiny Love 3 In 1 Rocker Napper is the best looking and most premium looking of all the rockers I have reviewed. However, at around 100 dollars, the price tag is also a premium. It is also designed for smaller and lighter babies, hence after the age of 6 months the rocker would be a lot more dangerous to use.

4moms rockaRoo Baby Swing

At almost 160 dollars the 4moms rockaRoo Baby Swing is the most expensive of all the rockers I have reviewed. It features an automatic swing with 5 speed options and has an MP3 input for more music control for the parents. However, the product is mostly made of plastic hence I am critical of the durability of the swing.

The Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing receives a special mention, however for me, the best baby rocker in terms of cost efficiency is the Fisher-Price Infant-to-Toddler Rocker in Dark Safari because of its price tag and the longevity.

Verdict

The best baby rocker on this list is the Fisher-Price Infant-to-Toddler Rocker in Dark Safari. This rocker is the most cost efficient, the sturdiest and, the safest of all the reviewed rockers making it a reliable and the best choice for those looking for a rocker that does the job done and can be used until the baby reaches toddlerhood.

Fisher Price Dark Safari

Overall

The search for the best baby rocker may be a long and tedious job because of the variety of products available in the market. However, it is important especially for the comfort and enjoyment of your little one.
